Lincoln High School Scholarships

Awarded by Local Firms and Organizations

Students must apply for the following scholarships in order to be considered. Applications are available in the counseling office. These scholarships are both agricultural and scholastically based.

*Some scholarships require special applications and are denoted with an asterisk.

Agriculture or FFA related scholarships are in bold green font.

JACK FORBES MEMORIAL/THERMALANDS SPORTSMEN CLUB

Applicants must plan to major in game management, forestry/conservation or agriculture.

JOHN PATCH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship is based on involvement in FFA. Applicant must plan to major in the field of agriculture in college and have a 2.0 GPA.

STEVEN MOORE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship is based on involvement in FFA. Applicant must plan to major in the field of agriculture in college.

GOLD HILL GRANGE SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must have taken ag classes at LHS, but need not major in agriculture in college. Involvement in FFA considered.

EDWARD & FRANCIS GREY AGRICULTURE AWARD

Scholarship based on FFA involvement, leadership, scholarship, citizenship. Applicants must be planning to continue their education in the field of agriculture.

PLACER COUNTY FARM SUPPLY/ROBERT MOORE MEMORIAL

Applicant must be an agriculture student with a 2.0 GPA. Must attend a college or trade school, full-time, majoring in agriculture or a related field.

TOM AND VIRGINIA ALLEN MEMORIAL AGRICULTURE SCHOLARSHIP

Applicant must be in 4-H or FFA as a senior. Must be an active member of the student body at L.H.S., GPA considered, must be an agriculture or ag-related major to include beef or beef related industries.

VINEYARD FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must have some background in agriculture preferably as a member of 4-H and/or FFA, financial need will be considered as well as academic accomplishments. Applicants must write a brief essay detailing their personal goals and how their involvement in 4-H and/or FFA.

LINCOLN GOLDEN CLUB SCHOLARSHIPS

Recipients are selected based on character, achievement, citizenship, and leadership.

LINCOLN HILLS SOFTBALL

Recipients are selected based on character, achievement, citizenship, and leadership.

GARY VINCENT MEMORIAL

Applicant must have a least a 2.0 GPA to apply. Criteria for selection will include citizenship. Must write a two-page essay on the following topic: “How do you see the United States, melting pot or salad bowl?” Or “What America Means to Me.”

LINCOLN HIGH CAREER TECHNICAL SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must enroll in college full-time in a vocational program. Must have at least a 2.0 GPA, financial need, high school activities and citizenship are considered.

LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must enroll in college full-time, have at least a 3.0 GPA. Financial need, high school activities and citizenship are considered.

NATIVE DAUGHTERS OF THE GOLDEN WEST

Applicants must be a female with a “B” average, planning to attend Sierra College in the fall.

NATIVE SONS OF THE GOLDEN WEST

Applicant must have a 2.0 GPA. Must also submit an essay (500 words or less) on a Significant Event That Happened in California History. Open to both boys and girls.

LINCOLN LIONS CLUB

Applicant must be planning on going to college and have been involved in community service.

JUDITH A. MCCARTNEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Applicant must plan to attend college on a full-time and attend Sierra College or Sacramento State. Financial need is considered.

RUSSELL B. PERKINS

Applicant must be active male in student government and/or activities or sports.

GALE FRISBIE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must be female, have been involved in school activities (class or club leadership, student body officer, cheerleader, music, art, dance or liberal arts). Must have a 3.0 GPA or above.

EDDIE R. ARMSTRONG MEMORIAL

This award will be given to a first person in your family to attend college. Student must also have a 2.5 GPA and be taking classes in Engineering/Mechanical or applying to a Tech school. Applicants are to write a 1-2 page essay on “What Family Member Has Been Most Influential in My Education?”

LINCOLN ROTARY COMMUNITY SERVICE

Applicants are to have demonstrated some form of community service attaining a minimum 15 hours in the past academic year. An adult in the community or school must confirm. Must also write an essay no more than one page long, double spaced including the following:

1. Why should I receive a Rotary scholarship.

2. What are my educational plans.

3. What will I do to better the world once I graduate.

DOWNTOWN LINCOLN ASSOCIATION COMMUNITY SERVICE

Applicant must have excellent citizenship, demonstrated pride in Lincoln, Community Service of at least 50 hours during senior year, 3.0 GPA or better, planning on going to college or university.

MARK FOWLER COMMUNITY SERVICE

Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA, emphasis on community service, submit 1 page essay on why you perform community service during your high school career, must have attended LHS all 4 years.

CHRIS MAHONEY MEMORIAL

Applicant must be female athlete with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, letter of recommendation from a coach and a one page essay on your experience as a high school basketball player or athlete. Letter must also state what your plans are after high school.

WESTERN PLACER AMATURE RADIO CLUB

Applicant must be female entering into a technical career in Robotics, Computer Science.

LINCOLN FIRE FIGHTERS ASSOCIATION

Applicant must plan to major in the field of Fire Technology, Fire Science or the EMS field and have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. Recipients are selected based on character, achievement, citizenship, and leadership. Applicants must submit a typed essay sharing career goals and what drives you to be a member of the Fire/EMS field.

LINCOLN HOSE COMPANY #1 SCHOLARSHIP

Applicant must plan to major in the field of Fire Technology, Fire Science or the EMS field and have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA. Recipients are selected based on character, achievement, citizenship, and leadership. Applicants must submit a typed essay sharing career goals and what drives you to be a member of the Fire/EMS field.

DEBBIE BROWN PHOTOGRAPY

Students must be a graduating Senior, must have taken photography at least one year at LHS, with a 3.0 GPA, must submit their favorite digital image in each of the three categories…People, Life in Lincoln and a category of their choosing (pets, nature, events, photoshop effects, etc).

*PLACER FOOTHILLS WOMENS CLUB NANCY WILLARD AWARD

Applicant must be a resident of Placer County, provide a transcript, one page statement including interests, participation in curricular and extracurricular activities with special emphasis on need.

*KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

Applicant must have a 2.5 GPA and enter a full-time or part-time academic program in college. Also must submit two letters of recommendation from a school official and an essay on “Why the Knights of Columbus Scholarship Should be Awarded to You.”

*ALFRED & CONSTANCE PEYROUNAT SCHOLARSHIP

Applicant must be planning on enrolling in college full-time (four year institution), show financial need and have a GPA of 3.0. Must also submit 2 letters of recommendation from non-family members and a sealed official transcript.

*LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL BOOSTERS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must have earned at least one varsity letter in athletics at Lincoln High School, must have maintained at least a 2.0 GPA. Athletic participation, high school and community involvement, as well as community activity will weigh in the scholarship screening.

*LESLIE PAUL SHELLBACH & CHIEF ROBERT LEIGHTY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA, or above, must be of good moral character, must reside within the Western Placer Unified School District. Applicants must write a short essay (not more than 2 pages) on “What Living in Lincoln Means to Me”. Along with the application and essay, students must obtain three letters of recommendation (one letter from a school official, one from a community leader, and one applicant’s choice.) A transcript of grades must also accompany the application packet.

*LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, must have a relative (grandparent, parent, aunt, uncle, cousin, or sibling) that has graduated from Lincoln High School. This application requires a typed statement (350 words or less) summarizing activities, accomplishments, needs and objectives which the applicant thinks qualifies him/her for this scholarship. Include goals and course of study planned. Two letters of recommendation are required for this application – one from a school official or teacher and one from a community leader, minister or employer.

*EDWARD A. GREY AND MILDRED CROOK GREY MEMORIAL MUSICAL SCHOLARSHIPS

This scholarship is open to any qualified senior whose field of study is music. Two types of scholarships are available:

  • Scholarship A – Applicant must have been enrolled in the L.H.S. Music Department for three years and maintain 3.0 GPA for those three years.
  • Scholarship B – Applicants must have been enrolled in the L.H.S. Music Department for two years and maintained a 2.5 GPA for those two years.

*THOMAS & MARY MULLIGAN SCHOLARSHIPS

Applicants must be students who are worthy, talented, industrious, and needy who reside in Placer County. Recipients must attend college in the State of California.

*SOROPTIMIST

Will be awarded to a female student. Along with application, student must also submit an official transcript, activities record, two letters of recommendation from outside your school and family and an essay (250 words or less) about yourself, your family, your interests, activities and/or experiences, how you plan to continue to improve your community through volunteerism and why college is important to you and your future.

*SOROPTIMIST – TRUDY ROSELLE

Will be awarded to a female student. Along with application, student must also submit an official transcript, activities record, two letters of recommendation from outside your school and family and an essay (250 words or less) about yourself, your family, your interests, activities and/or experiences, how you plan to continue to improve your community through volunteerism and why college is important to you and your future.

*ALAN BRADFORD MEMORIAL

Applicant must have a 2.0 GPA and enter a full-time academic program in college majoring in Engineering or Construction Management. Must also have 2 letters of recommendation, transcript and submit an essay stating “Why you want to be an Engineer or Construction Manager.”

*ROTARY CLUB VOCATIONAL

Applicants applying must have at least a 2.0 GPA and submit two letters of recommendation, one from a teacher and one from an employer or community leader.

*CSEA SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants applying must have a parent/guardian who are active members of the CSEA local chapter #741. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA and one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or school administrator.

*LINCOLN JUNIOR ZEBRA SCHOLARSHIP

Applicants applying must have played a minimum of one year with Lincoln Jr. Zebras or Lincoln Chargers and have played at least one year as a varsity cheerleader or football athlete at LHS.

*LINCOLN KIWANIS FOUNDATION

Student must provide one letter of recommendation, one-page typed explanation outlining your request for a scholarship in addition to application.

*FIVE CITIES DEMOCRATIC CLUB

Applicant must have at least a 2.0 GPA and applying to a technical school or junior college. Student must also submit a letter stating career goals including work history, interests and financial need. Must also submit two letters of recommendation from someone other than a family member. Student does not have to be a Democrat to be considered.

*FRANK NEVAREZ MEMORIAL

Applicants must plan on entering a vocational school.

*PEO

Applicants must be a female planning on attending four year college. Must also include a transcript, letter of recommendation from school official and one additional person, one page explanation of your career goals and how your education is expected to accomplish your goals.

*MERTENS INSURANCE

Applicants must have completed 50 hours of community service.

*PLACER COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS

Applicants must have maintained a 3.0 GPA, a typed 300 word essay describing your career objectives and the benefits to be gained from this financial award, must also be a resident of Placer County for at least one year.

*BENJAMIN PARRA MEMORIAL

Student must be of Latino heritage, be pursuing further education and enrolling full time in a college or university setting, entering first year of college or university, there is no age restriction on applicants.
